Sweeeeet nuggets. OK, I really like the sound of the HK 430. It’s very sweet and matches up with all of the speakers I have. Currently I am using the Nova 8Bs and I feel like I want to do that ‘upgrade’ one fella posted about at audiokarma. In any case, the HK is sweet but I wanted a little more power.
So…I deox’d the Sony STR-V5 and put it back into rotation. WOW! This is a fine-ass stereo receiver. I feel like the 2 bills I paid for it (in trade) last year, maybe 2013, I don’t really remember, was well worth it. Not only does this beast have punch but it sounds very full, very sweet. Also, heh, I am a sucker for the bigass toroidal transformer in it. Opening it up this morning I marvelled at it.
I took it out of rotation a while back because the switches were dirty. In order for the balance to work I had to flip the switch to mono. That didn’t cut it for me so I yanked it until I had time.
