The Blues Collection at Spin ’em Up

This one Blues-Guy, introducing a tune one time, said something like: “If you don’t like the Blues, you got to have a hole in your soul”. Of course he’s right. The Blues is common, it’s Folk. It’s the swaying of Earth in fields of windy grain, it’s a natural because heartbeat and it’s noise; it’s flow, is being alive. Nah, life isn’t constant sorrow, and neither is the Blues, but Joe Zawinul knew, too, and he was a Jazz guy – sometimes shit goes bad. Sometimes, mercy…mercy…mercy. Sometimes, I got a Feeling.

I’m a swinging hammers Blues guy. People say Spirituals, Folk, Rock, Country – BAH! It’s all the Blues, even Jazz is emotive Blues of complicated refrain because, again, life. I’m a foot-stompin’ Blues guy, too, because – Life. You see, Blues is what is sounds like. Yer Blues is your step. Yer Blues is your humor, babe. It’s your humor.
