1979 was a weird year, and it was fabulous. 6th grade. I was in the show now, middle school; I had arrived. I remember ‘Armed Forces’ by Elvis Costello & The Attractions and ‘Look Sharp!’ from Joe Jackson being all over the place. Then we got The Knack’s ‘Get the Knack’ – and we still had Anne Murray
Then Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ came in Autumn (30 November 1979). Uncles, and parents, and cousins bought a copy, that one priest I knew got a copy – everybody had it and we were slippin around in melodramatic taffy for months through the ultimate ick of it all. I mean, I was in middle school – Christ! It’s in my friggen DNA. Listen
They used to show the movie on Friday nights at E.M Lowe’s in central mass in the early ’80’s, probably elsewhere as well. Don’t see the movie. Just… I mean… sigh.
Not my favorite Pink Floyd album, but, as of this edit in Winter of 2020, I’ve listened to it straight through 3 times ans it’s been monumental each time.
