Day 6 of > 90 degree weather. It’s gross. I only got dressed to go get some ice cream, which, I haven’t had in years. So good…A pint of B&J was almost $7. AYFKM? I got the butter pecan, haagen dazs. It’s my go to after b&j nysfc. I had the funk turned up in the car on the way, turnin’ with that sway.
The fan is running behind me, close by. It’s cooler in the house, but, not by much. This fan works, though. I’m watching the committments and I see a thing happen in the movie, and I ask – don’t I have that, or, something….so I look. I come here, spinemup, to check. Nah. At least, not any more. I coulda sworn, though. Anyway, I start poking around and I see that I had some links back to discogs in the album detail pages.
I click some and I look at some data, see if spinemup is outdated. Wow, sold for how much….holy crap, it’s worth how much? Wait…
I check some of my albums. Holy crap. So many are ‘worth’ so much right now. I must have a thousand worth > $(TOPSECRET). Most I checked were > $(HOLYCRAP). Then, I saw this while I was looking for something else: Junior Murvin.
The album remains unplay’d (by me, at least), but, I remember buying it, poking around, learning more. It has remained in its spot for years, sleeved. I just looked it up on discogs and it sold for more than $800 last year. AYFKM? My copy is excellent and is currently in storage, packed for the long haul. I certainly wasn’t expecting this album to be so valuable. There are others in the collection that I know have some worth, high 2-figures at least, but, I don’t pay too much attention, especially because the whole thing is so whimsical.
I have a prince CD that was worth $5000. THat’s right. I bought it at a boutique cd store on a popular st in worcester, ma in the early ’90’s for maybe $6. It was his ‘black’ album recorded in the late ’80’s that he didn’t want released – WB had other plans.
I Looked it up and saw the value and decided to hold on to it. Stupid. Prince and WB mended and the cd was worth a couple dollars just a few months later. Pffft.
Current value of almost anything is whimsical, that’s why I don’t care too much. Sure is fun daydreaming a little, though.
